About the Song
Arise Shine Morocco (ASM) was founded on the belief that it would be a turning point in the spiritual destiny of Morocco, the fruits of which will be reaped for years to come.
This song was written as an expression of the faith that anticipates the fulfillment of God’s deepest longings for this nation in our generation and those that follow. The refrain comes from Isaiah 60:1, the theme verse for ASM. Also prominent and hopefully prophetic is Psalm 113 which invokes praise for the name of the Lord “from the rising of the sun to the place where it sets” (verse 3). Morocco, being on the west coast of North Africa, in Arabic is called Al Maghreb which refers to ‘the place where the sun sets.’ The psalm goes on to describe God’s heart for the poor and for the barren woman. While the word barren simply means one incapable of having children, it also implies the shame and rejection that the woman often experiences from her own people.
Th church in Morocco, currently small in number, unrecognized and unwelcome in her "home" country, can be likened to the barren woman. God's promise is that he will settle her, that is, give her an honored and secure place among her own people, and will transform her from being barren to bearing fruit with joy. May it be so !!
