| Week 4 |
TechnologyDue to recent advances in technology and a growing middle class,.. Morocco is now a fast changing society. Use of satellite television, the Internet, and cellular phones has exploded over the past decade.
That many households have a satellite dish is readily apparent when surveying any city in Morocco. People now receive daily exposure to the outside influence of western news and programming right in their homes.
In the past few years thousands of Internet cafes have opened throughout the nation. Moroccans now not only view life outside Morocco on their televisions but they interact with the rest of the world through e-mail and chat rooms.
Mission organizations are producing Bible studies on CD ROM and DVD so they may be used for theological education purposes. These will have an impact as more and more Moroccans gain access to personal computers and video playing devices. Even the proliferation of cell phones in Morocco will provide previously unavailable opportunities for effective ministry.
Praise God for the many new doors opened for the gospel to reach Moroccans through new technologies. Unfortunately there are many corrupting influences on both the Internet and satellite television. There is a concern that these corrupting influences will cause a generation to arise in which traditional Moroccan values will give way to immoral Western values.
"Teach us to number our days aright, that we may gain a heart of wisdom." Psalm 90:12
"Discern what is best and... be pure and blameless until the day of Christ," Philippians 1:10 Pray new technologies will be used as effective tools for preparing the hearts of all the Moroccanunreached peoples to receive the Gospel.
